RECTUS DIASTASIS AND SCAR TISSUE

RECTUS DIASTASIS

A Rectus Diastasis Abdominus (DRA) is, in simple terms, a separation of the belly muscles. This separation is not an empty gap; however, the tissue in the space between the abdominal muscles becomes overstretched and weakened. It's most common among the postpartum population, but women and men can have them at any time in their lives. This separation often creates an imbalance through the core system which gives you strength, stability and control. A diastasis can become strong and functional with training.

I'm not gonna sugar coat it, DRAs are not created equally. Some people see improvements in a few months (if small with good tissue quality), others may take years to feel strong. For some people, surgery is required to create good tension through the belly system. Either way, the internet is flooded with confusing and fearful information for women. If you're looking for knowledge about your diastasis and tools to get back into movement and exercise without fear, come on in.

Whether you have been diagnosed by a health care professional, have done a self check, or are concerned because you notice a belly bulge, I'll help get you on a program specific for you to regain strength, control and confidence of your body.

SCAR TISSUE

Scar tissue that contributes to pain or limitations for post natal women include C-Section scars or episiotomy/perineal tears. Healthy tissue doesn't hurt! If you have a scar and are experiencing pain or limitations in movement or function, that's a sign your body is hypersensitive.

I perform and teach you scar tissue mobilization and desensitization as part of post natal care.
